Rawal Lake an artificial reservoir drags from the Rawal dam to shift the crowd at the dam to the lake. The Rawal Dam used to fulfil the need of water for the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The extra water of the Dam, the Korang River  and other small streams from Margalla Hills drops in this artificial lake. It covers  the total area of 8.8 km².  The area around the lake has been beautifully planted with orchids, long and short trees and  gardens, picnic spots, and lined paths. The sophisticated terraced lake is good for picnics, fishing and boating. The panoramic view of the lake with the backdrops of the Margalla and Murree hills stands high in the profile.

Many private clubs settled near the banks gives the lesson and opportunities of Boating, sailing, water skating and diving. On the west of the lake is the Islamabad Club which offers different sporting facilities. The lake has consideration of wintering waterfowl Anas platyrhynchos. It is a good place for birds watching. It is also the home of many mammals include the common fox, Pangolin, Porcupine, Jungle cat, Jackal, Wild boar and yellow-throated marten. But be aware of the reptiles Indian cobra and Russell's viper. The 15 species of fish flourishing in the lake belonging to 11 genera. The fish species include Doula, Rahu, Thaila, Mori, Carp fish and Talapia. It is basically located in the outskirts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and considered as the paradise picnic and outing spot for the two cities locals. This lake has breathtaking views to swallow.
There are many snacks bars and restaurants to serve the tourists with amazing fast and traditional food. The PTDC established the Jaltarang Restaurant which serves you with the delicious snacks and refreshments. Best Western is a 4 star luxurious accommodations for an overnight stay. You can enjoy the sunset and the moon rising views direct from the windows of the hotel. The bed is green and embellished with the spectacular colourful flowers. But do not forget to the highest point to see the view  of the twin cities.
The F-1 tracks and motion rides are other options for the children and young adults.  The cafĂ© along theses tracks gives the yummy drinks and tasty fast food options. The cheap flights to Islamabad will give you the opportunity to spend your little weekend on this amazing lake.
